I went back in time, through livejournal, and looked at all my entries for May 13th. It seemed like a lot of fun things happened on this day a couple years back. I think I am going to make a real attempt to revitalize livejournal in my circle of friends. Since the old days on this thing, that circle of friends has become much larger. Also, I want to brush up my writing skills. Its not the same as it used to be and you can tell when you read my oldest posts and compare them to my newer ones.

tomorrow, or rather, later today i will post some entries on facebook to advertise livejournal.

i hope everything works out with the possibility of a new role with casting. it may just be a TSA but at least its a start! and boy can i use a change! more on this later when i get more info...

yesterday's skipper standup was a lot of fun! its always good to hang out with old skippers...its always gauranteed goodtimes! adams routine of beastiality and 9/11 was amazing because it was soooo awkward. i went to the first show and 98% of the seemed like they were over 50. i dont know where they all came from but it was a little weird. i didnt stick around for the second show, but it seemed like a younger crowd. i did know more people in that show. i think i am actually considering doing a show.

i feel my recent posts are kinda crappy...not up to par with posts ive done in the past. im a little rusty. ive been out of school for over a year now and i havent written much of anything...just statements at work. i need to stop being lazy and put more effort into these things...i love writing.

i also need to start exercising...11 days til vegas!

I have made a couple attempts to start using LJ again. What I really love about this site is going back to see what I did a year ago, two years ago, or three, or more. It is really interesting.

I actually secretly used livejournal to record what I did during test and adjust for Nemo last year. I tried to write every day but sometimes there really was nothig to write about since we did not do much. Also, I was often too tired after a shift and went straight to bed when I got home.

Now that the attraction is open, I can make those entries public. I think I am going to do that now.

I also have volleyball tonight. I will debut my green shorts for March!

Dear Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage Team:

The night started with the testing of the new springs installed on Argonaut while it was on Spur 1. We attempted to pull Argonaut onto the main line to test opening the rear hatch at Dock 1 but Track Switch 1 would not function properly. A 4th sub was still needed on the main line so we used Track Switch 2 to pull on Nautilus. Track Switch 2 worked beautifully.

Later in the evening we attempted Track Switch 1 again to bring a 5th sub online to accommodate Lagoon work and Lagoon pacing light tests. After 11 minutes, Track Switch 1 still did not completely switch over. We had to abort and switch back over to main to move a sub into the lagoon.

I had the crew practice opening the rear hatch on Argonaut. I explained two different ways of opening the hatch: opening while on the false deck by the bollard and opening while on the dock. The most favored way of opening the rear hatch is while standing on the false deck facing the back of the sub, lifting up with the hook, and stepping forward onto the first step to push it open the rest of the way. I hope that made sense.

Submarines were parked in Scenes 5, 10, 11, and the Lagoon. Divers were deployed to Scenes 5, 8, 12, 16 and the Lagoon. Lots of work also continued in the Remote Observation Outpost. Working on the Anglerfish, Jellyfish, Darla, Seagulls, and Sea Turtles seemed to be very popular this evening.

Various items were installed today. The numbers 1-6 were installed in the queue. Lots of signage was also installed throughout the dock. OCC2 has also been installed. Portside Darla received a new wetsuit. The wetsuit from the Portside Darla was given to the Starboard Darla. Various Darla movements were also tested. Gangway Mike and his team showed up tonight and installed ropes at the base of the gangways. These ropes prevent the gangways from falling in the lagoon if they are hit by a submarine. His team also begun to attach nets on the gangways.

Scout, Mariner, and Nautilus were returned to the dock at the end of the night. Neptune was left in Scene 11 for Team Jellyfish. Third shift maintenance will begin adjusting ballast on several subs tonight.

Due to a slow night on the OPS side of things, I ER'ed two CMs.

There are only 2 anomalies tonight to report:

Nautilus would not set off the lagoon pacing lights. We were unable to test with other boats since they were in the caverns.

As mentioned above, Track Switch 1.

That is all for tonight!

-Mark Diwas

As we walked from our shift today, Casey told me that our picture was on the internet. It was us standing around the wall that fell down. I was excited because I finally made it onto the internet!

Well I just checked the sites. It was a picture that lame Darkbeer took. Well I was not in it. The wall was there, it was already up, and so was Casey and Karen. No me. How could I have missed Darkbeer. (with a sarcastic tone) Its a shame Darkbeer missed a perfect photo opportunity of the wall being down. I totally want to tell him what he missed!

Well my pic did not make it onto Darkbeer's "lovely" site but this appeared on Mouseinfo.com under the Finding Nemo discussion thread:

Why do I capitalize NEMO? I do not know.

A couple things happened today. Did a lot of raising and lowering of bridges and moving subs. The show is coming along very well. Contracted divers adjusted the anglerfish and work was done on the projections of the EAC. I am very glad that there are projections in that area. I was a little worried that it was going to be 2 minutes of bubbles.

During the middle of the shift, I was told by Casey to go to the innoventions building. He did not say for what, but I figured it out. Bob and I talked about it in the morning when we first got to work. It was for our 5 year anniversary. It was surprising, unexpected, awkward, and cool. I got to see good, old friends there: Mike Woolcock, Jeffrey...i cannot think of his last name right now but manager Jeffrey, Sarah Brnca...it was goodtimes to see them. It was awkward though because I just came out of a cavern from raising and lowering drawbridges. I was dirty, my hands were oily, my hair was a mess...I was totally not Disney look. Of course, there were many managers and important people at the celebration. Thats why I brought my hardhat, it was my alibi.

Then I got back and got to ride around with all the Pixar guys. They seem really cool. I did not really get to talk to them since Taryn was driving. I was just simply tagging along. But it was still fun to go with them. I hope to see them again in the future. Then I will drive them...hopefully.

Millie and I had a great discussion today as well. We confirmed with each other we are the weekend cycling leads. I am glad that I am not alone in becoming a lead. I am also glad Millie was chosen as the other lead. She is such a sweetheart and deserves it. We will be great. I know it!

What was going on today?! In the morning it was very cold and windy. Then we arrive on the dock, do our opening checklist, and get yelled at. The point of us coming in an hour early is so that we can do our pre-float, raise the bridges, and do a crawl. By the time the show imagineers get there at seven, we should be ready to go. Not today. Jim, whoever that imagineer is, had a problem with that. I hope his people who were all waiting around on the dock for about an hour yelled at him for that. What a jerk. I do not understand why people get so upset so easily. He could have handled that situation more nicely. Its not like we did it maliciously. Thats when I get upset at people, when they do something bad intently to me.

The day also ended with lots of excitement. Some kind of "mini tornado" or "mini hurricane" passed over us during the day. Shit...i mean SHIT...was flying everywhere. Tarps, cardboard, signs, everything was flying everywhere and into the lagoon. Dust on the dock was being blown into our eyes. Taryn and I were about to go into the caverns for some protection until I saw the perimeter wall around the lagoon fall down. We ran out there as fast as we could and were surprised that no one was under the walls that fell. I could just imagine the drama if there were some people under there. Lots of people came out to barricade the area...it was great team work and felt really good. Foods, security, custodial, and taryn and i were out there. Then the "important" people came: managers, imagineers, etc. The imagineers pretty much handled the wall themselves...which was weird because I expected maintenance or our construction guys to come out, but they did not. Autopia went down at the same time as well as the monorails.

I wonder how Jungle held up during that ominous storm.

First day working with the show people. Its really boring. We are just "shuttle drivers." Hopefully we will get to see the full show while they work.

Today was an awesome day. We had the attraction all to ourselves and we just drove and drove and drove. It just sucked a little because there was no animation, no bubbles, and the audio/sensors was messed up on the Nautilus.

Josh asked me if I would be comfortable being a lead during these types of shifts. I'm very excited!

Bump tests are finally finished! I am just hoping the night shift deals with all the water dummies tonight so we can switch out boats. Nautilus, Neptune, and Seafarer are supposed to be brought onto the main line tomorrow.

Another spectacular day! I saw the animation. I heard the audio. Now I need to hear and see it together.

Poor Mariner keeps getting scraped coming into the dock. That boat is going to need plastic surgery before opening.

I took this John(I think that's his name) guy around, he's the head of the NEMO project, and he said I did a great job. =)

Things are coming along just great!!!
